Dramatherapy sessions for your child or young person

Get in touch to see how dramatherapy might be able to support your child or young person, whatever they may be going through or experiencing.

I have worked as a therapist with children and young people aged 4-18 in a wide range of settings, including within private practice, in schools (early years, primary, secondary, independent, sixth form/college and within specialist education), for charity groups and in the NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS).

I have a broad range of specialism and experience.  I have worked with young people experiencing:

  • anxiety,

  • depression, low mood and thoughts of suicide,

  • identity and gender related issues and questions,

  • relationship issues (within the family and/or peer groups),

  • difficulties attending school and with those at risk of exclusion,

  • low confidence, body-image and self esteem issues,

  • trauma or historic trauma,

  • attachment based issues, including supporting children in care,

  • communication based difficulties, including selective mutism and non-verbal/pre-verbal individuals.

This list is not exhaustive, rather it is intended to support you in deciding whether I might be the right fit to work with your young person.

As part of setting up the work, I will be liaising with you (the referring adult or parent/guardian) about what you hope they may get from coming to sessions with me. I will also give space to the young person, within their sessions, for them to explore and express what they might hope to get out of attending.

Depending on their age and their confidence, you might attend some/all of the sessions and this will be discussed with you as the work progresses.

Sessions with a young person are led by them and, depending on their age and comfort level, are more typically play based or creative from the outset. I can bring a range of different materials and stimulus to support their self-expression.

I offer a free 20 minute phone call to help you decide whether to book an initial session, so please do get in touch when you are ready.
